If you were a congress man or women, compose a law that would be reasonable concerning texting and driving.
Contrast and compare drinking and driving with texting and driving.
Design a plan that would reduce the use of texting while driving.
If I were a congress woman, the law I would want to pass in congress is to completely abolish using a cell phone and driving in the USA. The law would include: Bluetooth, texting, and holding cell phone to the head while in the drivers seat of the vehicle.
The law is fair and right for the people because this law would eliminate one distraction on the road. There have been several accounts of deaths and critical condition of deaths when texting and driving in the car. In one study, it has been proven that texting and driving is more dangerous than drinking and driving. Texting requires the person to look down at the mobile device and type out a message to send to someone. This will impair the person to 60% less attention on the road. Drinking and driving is 40% less attentive to the road. This does not promote that it is better to drink and drive on the road, but this study does prove that both drinking and texting are more likely to distract the driver intensely. The people who disobey this law will be punished with a fine of $500 to up to $7000 and 5 to up to 50 hours of community service. The fine and community service hours will be determined based on the intensity of the crime committed.
Thus I would like the law to be passed that texting and talking on the phone be abolished from drivers on the road. The protection of the people is important to all. With this law the people will be safer on the road and the death toll of texting persons will drop.
